Seems to be the season again...

Just had this in response to my earlier classified post, in which I clearly labelled many different items I was selling, and with prices for each. User has only just registered, and has no posting history...
<div class="message-metadata">vaughnny <span class="activity">Sent 1 hour ago</span>
<div class="message-star-actions"> <span class="bp-screen-reader-text">Star</span></div>
</div>
<div class="message-content">

Hello Sir/Ma,
I am interested in the advertised item,Email me with the price if available.

</div>
I wonder if he's got an Uncle who's just died and left him several Million dollars that he can't access and needs it paying into a UK bank account first, and he'll happily reimburse me for my time and efforts...?

Given how many locals can't log in it's amazing the scammers get through and register

Not sure what the site can do about scammers mailing you outside of the site?

Not sure when you joined ton but they have dropped the need to be referred and the interview steps for membership. Just got to report them when they pop up.

It's fair to say that if STW's modus operandi for this new forum was "drive out the old members and open the forum up to the spammers/scammers" they seem to have hit the nail on the head!

The forum is utter bollox compared to what it used to be... And I don't mean the calibre of the people on it or the quality of the "what tyre" threads etc. (that's all too subjective), I mean the actual quality of the forum itself... And seeing as nobody makes money out of magazines these days, and I know that advertising revenue and click throughs from the forum has kept STW going for some time now... Is the writing on the wall? Certainly I imagine UK office productivity has gone through the roof the last few months!

Internal mail

Shows how long I've been on here... I didn't even realise that was such a thing!

I got the same message as somafunk, even though I'd posted that the item had been sold the day before!!

Deleted it straight away.

Will remove my email from my profile now as well.

I've cancelled my P as well, not paying for this if i'm gonna get spammed, I'll put up with the ads. Although im paid up til next year....

Seems a bit harsh to blame Singletrack for 'allowing' scammers to infiltrate their site. How could they know new users are signing up for dodgy reasons? A tick box at the end of the sign-up page saying, "I promise not to be a naughty boy/girl/prefer not to say" (delete as appropriate) wouldn't put them off.

Just report to the mods and add the e-mail address to your blocked list.
