why do some people post FS adverts and then not respond to questions and emails - 3 times in the last 3 days this has happened with different users!!

Probably for the same reasons that people say they will buy stuff, do the deal and then dissappear.

Some people are best just not posting photos....

My buddy responded to an advert for a well known rebadged filing cabinet.

Pictures arrive....yes great condition .....painted the most god awful colours with terrible graphics. Looked like it crashed out of the 90s

Must be hoping for someone to buy it unseen !

Seem reasonable, but are you missing out the part of the question where you ask if they will take fifty pence? 😉

My particular favourite is on other cycling fora, where you can PM and see if someone has read your PM. you get no response despite knowing they read a queastion, then they BUMP their ad.

Still i prefer no answers then low ballers or the morons that say they want something, pull out by then saying they found it cheaper new but wont respond to your request for the internet link...again despite reading the message. Just have the balls to say you bought something else or dont have the money rather than lying.

Annoys me. Its not as though I'm posting three weeks later- A couple of recent times I was the first to post then blanked.

I find, now that posts don't get emailed to you, its best to email and stick a ygm post on their thread. I tend to get better response times that way. But I never need to buy that bad I'll chase up after a message. Heck they are the ones trying to sell and after money. I guess there aren't many STW'ers working successfully in retail.

Well, there are always one or two quick questions to ask (unless its detailed ad)- if other buyers are that craven to jump/risk without being clear then more fool them.

The same STW'ers probably think they win on ebay.

Rob,

I replied to my for sale thread with:

Hi Rob, I sent you an email at about 11 this morning. I replied to your mail so you should have it!

I'll resend now.

And then:

Resent and resent via separate email account. Hope one of them has worked. If not, let me know.

Dave

Did neither of them work? I sent one via hotmail and one via icloud. Find it hard to believe 2 emails didn't get through!

I had a request for further pics from another buyer and asked for confirmation that my email got through. they responded they had it.

maybe you're on their 'buyer blacklist' 😉

There are some people I won't sell to, in just the same way there are some I won't buy from

I've responded to loads of wanted ads without responses at all. I should probably just post a for sale thread so I can ignore people on it.

Odd both accounts are showing sent messages and I know other emails have got through! I'm truly confused.

Daft question, they aren't in your junk email folder, as I have had emails from hotmail.co.uk go into my hotmail.com junk folder. Just a random thought! Though I assume you will have checked.

100% nowhere - can you post your responses on here instead?

...and this is why the forum needs a PM function. No risk of errant emails, mods/admin can monitor messages if need be to resolve issues etc etc

Also, an email notification to replies on a thread would be nice as well.

*goes back to herding cats*

nope, some people are just too much hassle, from the 30 odd emails (NOT an exaggeration) asking questions which I had either already answered, or sent them links to manufacturer specs to answer, to the delays in payment while expecting you to not sell them to someone else in the meantime, to the endless follow-up questions post delivery about how it works (just read the flippin manual I sent you!), to asking for money back because of cosmetic marks (that were described and photographed prior to agreeing the sale!!!), means there are more than a few people I simply will not deal with.

I find a real split in classifieds at the moment - those who respond quickly, and are really helpful and keen to sell (or give away!).

Those who just don't respond. I too have two people I have emailed in the last 10 days and not got a reply from.
