I've got an ad in the classifieds at the moment and I've had enquiries from Portugal and Slovenia. I've never had any enquiries from abroad before, is this because the exchange rate is favourable for them?
It will be via Paypal so i'm not worried about being ripped off, I just thought it was odd.

I'm not sure that's much protection if you're the seller, tbh.
+1 to that.
Every PayPal case I’ve ever dealt with has gone in favour of the buyer!!
If those countries ae anything like Spain then it's far cheaper to buy second hand in the UK and have it posted. People here(Spain) seem to expect to get about 80% of their money back second-hand.
I have posted stuff to France recently with no bother whatsoever...
Postage was cheap to, almost as cheap as UK.
I sold some forks to a fella in Slovenia ... no trouble.
Perhaps not so safe then
I sold a pair of wheels to a chap in Portugal via ebay. He paid promptly and paid extra for international delivery. No problems, I wasn't too worried as his ebay feedback was good - I would be a bit concerned if it was somebody contacting me out of the blue.
I only had one PP case (on eBay) as the buyer wanted a full refund for some Asics shoes as some guy in a shop said they don't look like genuine Onitasuka Tigers 🙂 I never advertised them as Onitasuka, did not have the receipt, but couldn't be fake as I bought them in Decathlon. It finished in my favour. I was happy to refund him for the shoes and save myself the hassle but obviously not the postage, that's why he started the PP claim.
With buyers from abroad, I would probably check their history if they are fairly new etc. Than check the shipping cost as that added to the price might not be that cheap after all. The only worrying thing is scammers started using PayPal and send fake emails, my mate was selling an iMac, guy sent him a payment via PayPal (probably fake email or something) and wanted it to be sent to Nigeria. My mate was happy to do that as he was the only person left on Earth that did not hear about the Nigerian scam. I would take a PayPal payment (or a bank transfer) but wait until the funds are cleared in the account. Also do full tracking postage and keep receipts.
