Seen an item I'm interested in on the classifieds. As I've never used them before, are there any gotchas I need to be aware of so that I don't get fleeced?

User has had an account for about a year, advertised a lot of stuff and made the odd forum post here and there. This item has been re-advertised several times.

Dodge city? Or am I just being overly paranoid?

You are going to get royally bummed, so walk away now.

Really though, contact seller, discuss. If you get a warm fuzzy feeling, go ahead. If you feel that they are holding out, walk away.

It's all on trust, so it's a question of whether you trust them or not. Only you can decide.

Pick up if possible to rule out any royal bumming.

So you are saying there is more chance of being royally bummed if one goes and collects?

Email or make an offer on the post. Wait for them to get in touch. If you're concerned then ask if anyone else they've sold to would be willing to vouch for them?

i don't think that was true about his girlfriend wearing them - that was just to spice it up a bit and hook a fish - looks like it worked 🙂

Sadly, they appear to have been washed.

Cheers anyway, guys - no-one have any experience of the seller, then?

Sometimes you've just got to take a chance cougar. He's got history, been a member for a while etc. Pay by PayPal, then at least you have a bit of protection. Have you contacted him?

go for it - you can't imagine that he's wrestled them off someone on the tow path or stolen them from the washing line - then gone to all this trouble to stitch you up for £35 - have some faith in your STW bretheren - mind you - if it all goes t!ts up don't say we didn't warn you....

Seems ok Cougar - he didn't by a wheel of mine due to car/MOT problems a couple of weeks ago so I'm guessing he needs the money. I wouldn't worry about it too much as there would have been posts long before now if there were any problems.

Gone for it. If I end up with a sore bottom, it's all your fault.

(Perhaps some nice padded shorts would've helped)
