Adam Yates has just won it, that is a seriously big race for a youngster to win.

I'm guessing due to the really poor Basque TV coverage, none of the teams, OGE included, knew what the heck was happening. What a win though!!

He didn't know he had won when he crossed the line - he got a 15 second gap on the last climb and held it downhill and on the run in.

Dude !!

There were a lot of names in there vying for the win, and thats one helluva prestigious classic race that.

Excellent.

Great win, such a shame we didn't get to see the whole race.
Greg Van Avermaet has claimed on twitter that he was going to win until a motorbike ran into him.
Maybe he went off the front before Yates and that was why Yates didn't know he if he had won?
Anyone heard anything about this?

Just seen this, bloody brilliant!! Apparently he was asking via radio what was going on but couldn't hear above the crowds, great stuff! Sounds like no one wanted to chase. Was this on Eurosport? Totally forgot to look and put it on record 🙁

From the Sporza website

I also got this off Sporza and put it through google translate
Van Avermaet was driving at the time of the incident to the lead in the race . "At 600 meters from the top of the last climb was driving a motor of the organization to me suddenly from behind ," Van Avermaet said to Sporza .

"I went hard to the ground and could not continue due to a broken bike frame . I lay in the grass and have me put aside the crowd. I saw the rest pass through, but they did not see me. Therefore it Yates not realized that he won . "

"The damage is not too bad , but we will complain to the organization. You do not get every day the chance to win a classic. There are also many WorldTour points for myself and the team attached to it. Almost got San Sebastian on my record , but now there are abrasions on my arm. "

Loved Yates' win - he rolls over the line, obviously no idea he's won... finally manages to hear something on his radio and celebrates!

About 12 min in:

Useless TV coverage, really useless.

I dont know if its undue pressure from TV directors screaming in the motorcyclists ear pieces or pressure from the race organisers doing the same thing but this sort of thing has got to stop....i cringe every time another useless camera wielding motorbike skims against a rider to get to something up ahead that is supposedly so important that it requires endangering life and limbs of other competing riders.

I'm as patriotic as anybody and chuffed to bits for Yates but this isnt the way anybody wants to win, mechanicals on the bike and punctures are part of racing but this is entirely irresponsible and avoidable....riders need to start thumping the camera bike riders the same way they thump members of the crowd when they get out of control....and lodge complaints, loads of complaints....bugger it, i'd sue the tit on the bike too.

Sagan kicked out at the moto in the tour, I don't know if he actually made contact as his foot wasn't in the shot. I have seen a few riders shout at and/or squirt water at the motorbike rider or camera guy on the bike.
I don't remember anyone hitting them. Maybe it is an instant DQ if you do?
This season seems to have had lots of problems with motorbikes and cars and I have seen a lot of near misses as well.

Didn't Yates crash there last year while going well (cant remember which brother)?

If I remember correctly it was Adam and he was in with a chance of winning.

Ya Adam.

Sounds like he's had a rough time in Spain!!

^ @ the above, yep, some of the moves pulled by the motorbikes are idiotic, I'm amazed there aren't more riders knocked off, especially when you see 'em weaving between groups. Stupid.

It was actually quite innocuous... the moto was following too closely when GVA's pace dropped

Video [url=

if it wasn't shown in the above video
