Taking on the Surrey hills around Dorking/Leith Hill/Newlands Corner next week for the first time in many years.
What are people's route recommendations (might need some detail)?
Looking for fast fun trails not gnarly freeride stuff. We'll both be on 100mm hardtails.
Weather has been OK recently but want to avoid deep mud.
Plenty of up and down welcome.
20-30 miles time permitting.
Thanks all!
I don't mean for this to sound rude but search for George budd on strava and dig out one of his Surrey hills rides. He pulls in pretty much all the decent trails and connects them in a good way. Probably best starting in holmbury, head up to leith, do the usual up there and then back across to peaslake and winterfold for all the main trails. Shouldn't be too muddy out there so nothing to avoid per se.
Sounds like you'ld enjoy Summer Lightning which goes east from Leith Hill tower and most of the way down to Westcott - it's fast and flows and pretty well marked.
Leith Hill tower is easy to find - if you can go up more, you haven't got there yet.
OP Newlands to Dorking is quite a range 🙂 Do you wamt an xc type ride taking in some different areas to to really shuttle trails ?
I'd avoid Leith probably. You could focus on Winterfold/Pitch/Holmbury and get more trails in. Summer Lightning is ok, but it takes you quite a long way out with a boring journey back to the rest of the trails.

Depends how much time you've got really.
