Classic lines on full suspension bikes?

Leading on from an earlier thread, who makes rear suspension bikes with the most classic lines?

Transition and Last both make frames with a straight line from the top cut of the headset to the rear dropout and a vertical shock in front of the seat tube.

Not necessarily that configuration but who else makes a full suspension with similarly classic, clean, simple lines?

Was just about to post that, along with a Project12 Vertigo or Victor.

Athertons aren’t far off either IMO

Posted this in another thread but this Coal 84 has beautiful lines to my eyes.

This Swarf too. Just lovely 😍

@sharkattack yeah, that counts.
@kayak23 the swarf counts, the coal is clean, but not quite the classic lines I'm after.
@tomhoward the Atherton is nice but I might be looking for the seat stays to meet the top tube.

I bought an Izzo and this may have had a strong influence on that decision.
I'm glad it did, it's a bloody great bike.

Also, Trek. Many, many Treks.

Canyon Lux / Trail has a very 'classic' profile. One of the reasons I bought one!

Had a Turner Flux before - loved that bike and the 'industrial' look of it but a very different look to the Canyon.

The look really shouldn't be as influential as it is.
I have an Ibis Mojo HD3 which does all that I need it to do, but it's not exciting to look at.

My old Horst link Turner 6-Pack was a different story.

Mondraker. The seat stays and top tube on my partner's Foxy are perfectly in line

*sticks in oar…”

i think my old HL 5spot was a very good looking bike, the classic double triangle. The 6 pack was almost as nice …;-)

My subsequent pivot 5.7 and bird 160 are lovely things but if I could get a horst link 5spot with modern geo….

Right.. I’m off back to fantasy bike land..!!

Transition defo have the top tube to seat to seat stay thing nailed - although they’re quite chunky frames so I’m not sure classic is the best word

I think the Swarf above with skinny steel tubes has the classic lines thing down particularly well. Less so that Coal.

I was going to suggest the Transition Spur, lovely bikes, just a shame that they’re (apparently) only for dry conditions.

I'm happy to accept chunkier frames. By classic, I mean the double triangle layout. Transition definitely fit the bill. But why is the Spur for dry weather only?

Sorry for the public display of ignorance, but what is the fabulous red bike that @sharkattack posted?

I did think it was a Swarf, but the little brace between top tube and down tube has me struggling.

Thanks

Ian

Also @tomhoward what is that fantastic green full sus you posted.

Im disappointed that i cant readily identify these gorgeous things.

Help me! Is there a definitive or gallery of beautiful steel mountin bikes?

Thanks

Ian

The real test of classic lines is when it turns into a hardtail when you squint.

Thanks all! I actuqlly hve a friend in Oklahoma who has a REEB steel gravel bike. I think it was a strange frame as at the time they made them in two sizes only. It was laquered raw steel and looked great though.

Project12 have now made it onto the list of lovely things too.

Thanks for the help

Ian

The new range of Marin FS bike seem to have the TT-SS straight line these days too.

Almost makes up for that abomination they came out with a few years ago.

@TomHoward - Marin have released many abominations over the years (many ride well though) as well as some nice ones.

Liteville 301

Change in shock orientation to the classic Turner-likes above, the latest 301 maybe isn't the smoothest looker but some previous iterations are.

The new ones are so much nicer than a lot of the old ones (especially that one, pass the eye bleach)

Yeah. True. 😪

'Made' then ...

EDIT.

Raaw Modonna or Jib?

Top tube and seat stays are not quite online but the tubes are not to chunky and are nice and straight.

Sorry , the Victor is not a looker.. unless classic means 90's, esp. with the splatter paint.

As you might imagine for a custom builder, you can have the frame in any colour you can think of.

Oddly, that Digit datum doesn't fit the "rules" and I think mullet puts the rear mech too close to the rocks in the peak district, but it does speak to me.

Wonder how that bottom bracket will survive in the slop.
