Mrs Bream needs a new city bike and I'm finding it hard to pay Swedish prices for in my view, low end kitted out bikes.

A quick translation of the spec reads:

To me that just seems alot of cash, can anyone recommend another option?
Mrs Bream wants are, classic sit up and beg style, white (or thereabouts) in colour with brown basket/seat/grips etc, 5 or 7 speed.

Withthe nexus hub, hub dynamo and integrated lights an the rest of the spec thats not too out of order.

I got the charge steamer (mens version of lazy susan) from evans - £250 reduced from £500 - it's a lovely bike but it's only 3 gears and you'd need to spend a bit to get it up to the spec of the one the OP posted. It weighs 36lb out of the box so would be up with the 40lb of the OP's bike by the time you'd added baskets and lights etc.
and his wife wants the one he posted and we'd all rather ride the one we chose than a compromise?
That Ridgeback link was a good idea, they do a 7 speed version for just over £500, but no rear rack.

aye but teh bike in the OP is a better spec than a pashley
pashley princess classic can be had for about £4-500, or the sovereign (with dynamo lights) for about £100 more.

Pashley Sonnet Bliss looks nice, just over £600 but this feels more value than the Skeppshult.
With the lights, I would try and get LED dynamo lights put on whatever you get, rather than the old fashioned halogen ones. They are brighter, supposedly take less power out of the hub and more importantly they don't blow the bulb ever. Is about a £50 upgrade, but worth it.
