Does anyone know if the superstar boost cinch rings (listed as 0mm offset) are actually flat rings. Pretty much all the other manufacturers boost cinch rings are listed as 3mm offset (vs 6mm for standard). I've come across a picture where a SS ring looks flat instead of dished.

I asked raceface/silverfish about this and they said the cinch rings are the same for boost/non boost and it's the cranks are different.

Also found they do a steel cinch ring that's meant to last longer but is a bit heavier

I bought a suoerstar boost cinch ring s/h off eBay which is flat while the chainring on my aeffect cranks are offset by about by about 3mmm

I'm confused

I'm confused as well.

Looking at the big RF cinch document for the 30mm stuff it looks like the axle varies (arms are the same). Not so clear for the 24mm stuff. It's very confusing though that RF say one think then different aftermarket make different offsets for the same thing.

My aeffect were fine with a 36t blackspire with 6mm offset on my longitude but on the replacement tarn a 3mm offset RF 30t is very close to the chainstay (I want a bigger ring than 30t). Sounds like the SS ring may be worth a try.

I ended up ordering a steel one from bikeinn. Just waiting for it to turn up, I'll report when it arrives

That's backwards, the cranks don't change.

Cranks are the same and RaceFace now only offer one chainline for boost/non boost.

Aftermarket companies make boost and non boost to fit cinch cranks.

My Absolute Black and Garbaruk boost rings are 3mm offset.

I had the same query a few months ago.. .. My RF boost chainring had 3mm offset.... I ordered a Blackspire boost chainring that came flat as a pancake after much head scratching I fitted it and have had zero problems with the chain line.

Interesting @ifindoubtflatout blackspire rings look nicer than SS. It was a non-boost blackspire ring that I took off. I hope a flat ring will give enough clearance to go to at least a 32t ring. Can make some of the difference up then when I upgrade to 12s with it's 10t cassette.

@honourablegeorge. I know, I thought the rings changed but the person on the silverfish chat was most insistent. Not being 100% sure, I didn't think I'd argue with him/her and be 'that' customer

I've used Superstar ones on Boost frames with no probs, if that helps.

👍 good to hear. Have picked up a cheap unused SS ring in a larger size to trial fit. May well end up having to change the cranks anyway due to clearance (depending what happens when I test ride).
