In fort william now, looking at os map and fancy out and back to cic hut. Any opinions on this is it fully rideable both directions or do water bars take the flow out of the climb? Or anything else worth doing locally without travelling?
Long long time since I've been up there (on foot) so no idea, but assuming you were going to go from or via the North Face car park, even if its shite you're at the end of the Witches' Trails, where there is a lot of fun stuff (although lots of it not marked), so maybe give it a go and turn back if necessary.
Firstly a large proportion of the height is gained either by a) forest fireroad (boring) b) the north face access path (boring) or c) the Alcan pipe road climb (boring and loose). Then the path from the deer fence is broken by waterbars as you suspect.
