Having a bit of a bike crush on a Trek Stache at the mo but concerned about these tyres. Anyone ridden them though a southern style winter.

I'm meaning cold wet slop, roots, puddles, off camber, chalk etc?

Thx.

I've found them not great in the wet... Probably not what they are designed for I guess. 🙂

Superb in the dry over anything.

Don't let the tyres put you off the Stache though. It's an awesome bike.

If you're thinking of a rigid 5 hurry up as Trek have stuck a mattock for on it for 2017 & there's no rigid option.

They are not as bad in the wet has some people make out, what you want is a Hodag they are brilliant in the mud only thing is Bonty only make them in 27.5 and now 26.
Stache is a great handling bike and this years models are being reduced don't think they sold too many over here its all in the short wheelbase handles like dream.

Hmm saw someone riding them in the dusty-dry FoD today and thought 'yep that's the first time this year they're appropriate'. They aren't terrible but they're really a dry use tyre. Very fast, very shallow.

For 29+ I used the Maxxis Chronicle. Still not a deep tread but way better than the Chup. Now I run 27.5+, the Rekon is the Minion of the plus world. Great all round tyre

Stache is fab. Get one. I didn't like the Manitou fork much. Mine has a boost Yari on there now. Way better.

I am still madly in love with my stache.....it's horses for courses though.....I had a massive off on some slimy stuff, and I lay the blame squarely on the chupas. As the man says though, vin the dry they are superb on any surface, and amazingly fast when set up tubeless.

Took my mate's Stache around some local singletrack yesterday, what fast rolling ball of fun that bike is.

I snapped up one of the last rigid 19.5 Stache 5's. So glad I did.
