Ploughing their fields. 😆
Nearly broke my neck today as the front wheel dive bombed down a rut, and I went over the handlebars.
Do they have to reinstate the bridleway with tracks or can they just leave it. One of the other fields I ride, the bastard keeps tilling it. Everytime I start to make some progress is creating a path he tills over the top of it.
I think they wait in the hedgerows and wait for me to pass, then cover my route.
Making me fitter, except when I have to walk.
Marcel
I think by law they got to leave footpaths and bridleways alone
I think they can plough/seed/harvest/etc over paths and bridleways if re-instated within 7 days. I stand to be corrected though.
Does hedge cutting with a mechanical flail and leaving thorns all over the road count as obstructing a public highway? If I was running the country I'd ban them, bring back proper hedge-laying!
They have to reinstate it after a Maximum period. In my experience farmers and forestry workers NEVER do this.

Some do - but it certainly feels like a minority. As for leaving thorns all over the road after hedge cutting, that is an offence, but I doubt many ever get done for it.
I find this very annoying, I run a farm of 800 sheep and contract out. If we are doing some work and block a footpath we always move out the way or help them go around.
you must be in the minority then Shorty!
Thought you meant those damn Singlespeeders? LOL
The local field I go with the dog they always do that. A nice compacted path forms on the edge of the field from walkers and bikers etc and the farmer ploughs as far to the edge as he can making it a big bog as soon as it rains!

My experience is its the other way round......
We get regular inspections by DEFRA to see the rules of the single farm payment (EU handout/subsidy for agriculture) are complied with. They come armed with high quality satellite images and maps measuring wheels etc. If you are non complient a 3 percent charge is taken from your payment for each infringement. This adds up to a lot of money. Blocking, not re instating a path or bridleway is one of of these infringements. I'm sure most farmers are motivated by money, know the rules and do what is needed.
