Show us your Christmas/Noel/Bada Din/Xmas/Yuletide/Chrimbo ride pics.

Out this morning over the Purbecks, not as wet and muddy as it could be, and and a sausage roll and donut on the way round.

Kennapole HIll, near Aviemore

Has one of the best view in the Strath I reckon.

Returned via Cake or Death and the Drakes Bothy path, both in great condition given the recent weather.

No pics, but mrs_oab and I pottered a few back lanes to Doune and a coffee next to the fire in the new Woodside hotel...lush

@kayak23 love that route. Did you manage to clean the bit in photo7?

No riding for me but the kids dragged me off to Palm Beach, as is traditional for the last 14 years or so. Its been one of the great bits of my life watching them get bigger and doing different stuff each time. Today we did the DoppelLoopingRutsche, which was great. My 50 year old back survived.

Yes, that bit was a lot easier than some of the other bits to be fair, though full disclosure, I was on an eeb on this occasion. 😉

No pics but a great ride at Redlands Surrey Hills today, M25 was a dream, trails running very well and it was very quiet.

I found £3, so I made money from riding, so I'm a pro now...

Short local Xmas eve ride with my 2 adult sons. First time we've all ridden together in well over 10 years, so it was a bit special. Edge slightly taken off beforehand when I found a crack in the chainstay of the FS bike, which was due to be ridden by son #1 ... so he got the SS HT and I took the gravel bike. Not ideal for the slippy techy steeps, but was just the best Xmas present!

Weather forecast looked good for today when we arranged a ride last night.

Started sleeting as we were getting ready to go out and gradually turned to snow as were ready to ride.

Still fun anyway and a good way to test out our new Dirtsuits.
They're brilliant BTW. Only thing wet was my socks after the ride had finished and i stood on the floor with no shoes on.

This is usually a great view of the Wilson's but the snow is just starting. Next time round it was white and got whiter. First time using the kenevo as I intended, twice as many climbs in the usual ride time and much less leg fatigue.

Still staying in Manchester so Tintwistle/Hadfield reservoirs, up Woodhead pass today.
Lovely blast out on the eeb. Still got really painful shoulder from a crash a week before Christmas so it was a nice chilled one.

The bad shoulder didn't thank me for the couple of fences I had to lift the eeb over mind 😳

More wintery today. Took the kenevo, managed more than I thought I would. Pretty miserable lower down where the wet sleet was just not fun.

The sheet ice which greeted me here this morning, plus feeling tired after 8am hospital treatment, meant we opted for a walk today.
It was rather atmospheric.

Started off a lovely morning for a bike ride. Last 3 miles in the pouring rain was less pleasant. And I can heartily recommend the granola slab at the Cycle Hub cafe in Newcastle, though I'm not sure my arteries would concur 😁 at least I got to finish my 2nd coffee before it chucked it down ☔☔

We had to go and feed a cat - so an early morning spin into Bridge of Allan, over the Dumyat road, then a loop out along the carse of Stirling.
I froze. Got covered in sh*t and crap from the roads. Both bikes gears playing up.
Splitting headache from my new medical treatment.

Merry bloody Christmas all.

(Hey, at least we were out).

Couldn't face the clean up after another ride today so went for a walk instead.
Found some new trails to explore and a cool new bench.

@singlespeedstu - rider with us today also. had the Dirtsuit, he was very impressed and it was properly tested!

Every year we ride the classic 'Windy Gap' route between Xmas and New Year. Come snow, ice, hail, rain or wind. Last year I stupidly announced 'it could not get any wetter'. This proved not to be the case as four hours of riding through rivers would prove 🙂

https://flic.kr/p/2o8uvmB

https://flic.kr/p/2o8uvno

https://flic.kr/p/2o8vQ67

The stills of the GoPro really don't catch the grimness of the endeavour. 5 degrees colder and I think we'd have been in trouble. Vid is here: https://youtu.be/5Io_LSPGiq4

40MPH gusts up the Roman Road, although a tailwind which made it pretty exciting descending into the valley. Took the BFEMax - first time riding this route on a hardtail for about 20 years and it was brilliant.

Ed - the fella in the dirtsuit - is responsible for the timing of this ride. It's his birthday but I've never seen him ride it in the 15 years I've lived here. He was out yesterday on his eBike - he's 67! Inspiration for the rest of us 🙂

Found a couple more when GoPro had literally 'hand the wind up it' and set it to a very odd angle.

Kind of frames the image. Quite like that. Totally accidental!

Amusing read that. Reminded me of an ill-fated Northumberland/Scotland border route me and 2 mates attempted once many years ago. Let's just say it was probably the second time I'd been suffering with hypothermia, after a similarly wonderful outing to Blanchland in knee-deep snow. 😳

Jacob Sladder from Hayfield.

Quite a lot of people who could only manage a scowl to my cheery good mornings.
Try not to let that get to me, but it does.

Mam Tor was rammed.

Snapped my chain, losing 100mm of it, and my dropper froze halfway up. I think my bike is wanting a rest.

I don't think you can blame the brakes 🙂 The fact they carried on working was a bonus. As was the pair of "uglyguards" fitted - new Mudhugger XL out back and Crudguard XL on the fork. Otherwise, drowning was a possibility!

We went to Glentress for a few days to catch up with friends and for Mrs5556 to enjoy NBD. Mostly rode the off piste bits around Thunderstruck etc - ace few days.

First day was a bit snowy.

Got the kids out on new (to them) bikes at last, littlest twins confidence is coming back, she did 3 laps of the bit of blue trail she walked down a few months ago.
