You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
XT 1x11 cassette and drivetrain on a stainless king non boost hub keeps spinning with a horrible gathering noise in the top two cogs of the cassette.
It's like the cassette is twisting on the freehub body. Could it be wear to the spline in the hub body? Wear to the spline on the freehub? King hubs don't use pawls do they?
Last time something like this happened, the pawls were collapsing in my shimano parallax hub.
Sounds like the ring drive might be gummed up. You’ll need a few Allen keys, some degreaser and some ring lube to service it. Very easy to do. I’ve done the service of the hub in a car park before. 🙂
You haven't fitted a a new chain?
Not a new chain but the cassette is a little more used than the chain and chainring. Chain and ring have seen exactly the same use.
I have taken the driveshell out, cleaned and relubed it, that didn't solve the prob.
I've then taken the non-drive and drive side bearings out with the entire ring drive assembly, cleaned it, lubed it and put it all back in and that hasn't fixed the prob either.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Depends what lube you used. If a bearing grease won’t help. Something like wet weather chain lube is ok.

Sounds like the chain could be slipping on the cassette under load (likely if the cassette is more worn than the chain)
Kind of hard to see in your video, but it looks like the chain is jumping
Yeah, if you watch the video in slow motion you can see the chain lift off the teeth at around 5 seconds for example.
Very easy to see if you stop the video then advance one frame at a time (with the <> keys, but without holding shift).

Where were you lot a week ago?
