I have a tapered King headset fitted to some Fox 831,120mm forks.
Dropped the forks out to grease the headset and noticed the crown race, which is sitting flush on the base of the steerer turns freely under a bit of pressure. Crown races I've fitted/removed in the past have been well wedged on.
Steerer looks fine, bit of anodising rubbed off but no noticeable scoring when you rub a fingernail over it.
Safe to run? No noticable play when it's all tightened.
A one off badly machined crown race? Or undersized tapered steerer?
