In my opinion the winner of the Tour de France should be the best all-round rider, not just dominant in one thing.
If you can't deal with the cobbles, cross winds, climb mountains or time trial then you shouldn't win. I should also include "gobbing spectators" in that list but there is obviously only one rider who has to deal with that obstacle on top of everything else and he proved he was the best by a long way.
Quintana bollocks - It is a deserved win from Froome
Absolutely, Q is a one trick pony with a doper as a wingman - nothing against him in person, but wouldn't like to see him as a Tour winner
On the subject of Quintana, have we all forgiven him for the 2014 Stelvio drama...? Fog of war and all that, but I still think he knew more about it than he claims he did.
I think the rather overlooked fact that Froome is the first guy to win the yellow and polka dot jerseys since Mercx means that arguing whether he should have won or not is pretty dumb?
Went right off him after that "you don't attack the yellow jersey" BS.
Made him sound like a pompous dick.
I respect the achievement and the sacrifices made, but I was cheering Nairo up AdH the other day.
TBH, it's "tradition" that you don't attack the yellow jersey when they have a mechanical. If they crash because of running out of skill then they're fair game. Nibali would have known this and he's lying that a) he didn't see and b) previous incidents of this justify his attack. It's not a classy move and guarantees that if he is leading any stage race and gets a mechanical he'll be dumped out of the back of the pack and people will hammer the advantage as much as possible.
I already understand that but he still sounded like a whiny prick.
Also you have to keep in mind how Nibali treated Froome after the crash on stage 6 I think it was.
Team player who looked one Alps mountain stage from losing the tour. I loved the dominance in the Pyrenees followed by real teamwork at the end. And I was cheering NQ up Alp d'Huez too. No time for Nibali though, I thought his behaviour lacked the class of a defending champion.
In my opinion the winner of the Tour de France should be the best all-round rider, not just dominant in one thing.
Winners of the TdF have been climbers who can TT (or vice versa) for many years. It will take a significant change in course design for anything else.

Absolutely, Nibali looked petulant and a bit silly.
I'd have just preferred to hear Froome say: "He knew what he was doing, but I'm still the one in the yellow jersey - so suck on this Vinceybaby"
Or something like that.
I believe the term is "I am considerably more yellow than you". And not just for the jersey. Can't wait to see Nibbles attacked on his next mechanical.
To be honest I'd be super frustrated too if I were Nibali... I mean he gets constantly bashed in his home country as a perennial under-acheiver and is riding for a team that treats him like sh1t.... yet everyone forgets he is in the elite of cycling to have won all 3 Grand Tours and better than that he is one of the very few to be a multiple GT winner without testing positive (Froome now one of these rare riders too)... our media here treat him like some Fred too! I'd have a chip on my shoulder given all that so cut the poor guy some slack 😀 Like Froome he has earned the right to be an occasional whingey nobber in the middle of a high pressure race 😀
