There's an ebike I want to buy which is in stock at 3 shops in my size
No discounts available due to the Covid situation which means the price is the same at all 3
None of them are local but all are within an hour's drive
I've never dealt with any of the shops before but they all seem OK over the phone

How would you go about choosing which shop to buy the bike from?
I suppose main concern would be after sales service

You dont say if you've demo'd the bike yet, go to each shop and ask to demo it and see which provides the most help setting you up for the demo maybe?

Name the 3 shops and whereabouts in the UK you are so we can give you feedback/recommendations

If your within an hour or so of Berkshire then Berkshire Cycles is the only place to go for e bikes (other people travel 10 hour round trips to visit them)

Their e bike knowledge and service is 2nd to none, Chris the owner is known as the Levo king in the Specialized e-bike world and is cheaper than most other shops, Specialized warranty issues are pretty much sorted the same day whilst you wait (including motor swaps)

They also stock other brands of e bikes, their website is rubbish and out of date, their phone service is excellent

Have you considered RaceCo in Stourbridge.
Same day turn round on most warranty stuff.

I'm also in the North West and 'interested' in getting an e bike. Which model are you looking at? I've been fancying an Orbea and there are dealers up here, but the cheapest by far (10% off) seems to be Cycle Gear in Halifax. I suppose I should just ask a more local one if they would price match.

Managed to bag myself a Trek Rail with 30% off
Getting it delivered from Madrid is the tricky bit.

A shop called Bicimania.
About 3 days of Googling found it.
If you buy anything, tell them I sent you!
Maybe we could split Shiply costs, looking at £234 for a Luton van pickup Madrid to Wirral

Load of crap! I've never bought a bike without getting at least 10% off in shop. I went with a mate to Wheelbase the other week and the fella said there was no discount straight away yet we still left with 10% off.

I love playing a bit dumb about bikes to see what sort of shop they are and if they actually wanna help or just rip you off.

My LBS has about 4 kids bike left in the showroom area.
They'd be mad to be offering any discount at the moment whilst demand is through the roof and supply is through the floor.

I would ring Chris at Berkshire cycles ask him if he has the bike your looking for and do the road trip to collect it,

He really is a stand up guy I know him personally from when I race sidecar motocross I have sent a couple of people to him for there bikes and as for back up service well there’s a reason people are using him because if there’s a problem he gets it fixed for you!

Hands down the only place to get an ebike from

All the best Stewart
