Covid pricing/lack of availability on used frames is such that I'm thinking of doing the Chinese carbon thing for the next spoilt youth build.
It seems like there's a couple of more current options as 150mm 29/27.5+ bikes but I'd be looking at using up 27.5 inventory that I have.
The 3 of interest are
Santacruz clone AM831 (possible $550usd group buy)
Lexon Spark FM356 firebird clone (KHS 6600)
Stumpjumper clone
Or oddly long for a catalogue frame, LCFS947
I have 200x57, 185x55 trunnion and a, 8.75x2.75 shock
Has anyone had any experience of any of these big china sellers?
Or AITA even thinking about putting my kid on something with potentially questionable QC from out of china?
I’ve seen a couple of road bikes coming through the shop, looked just like the real thing (cervelo) good finish etc.
Ridden by middle aged 15stone pedal mashers, no problems at all.
They weren’t light of course.
Seen plenty of Chinese brand bars/seatposts too. Same story there.
