You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
In my experience, they won’t reply. You’ll get more help from here.
replied fast to contact via their contact form on website (I messaged late Sat, Paul replied on Sunday) and also to my response to their email reply (if that makes sense…)
Just me then! (email).
Thanks anagallis_arvensis and NBT
@Bunnyhop / @NBT
Bad news for you, I don't think they work with cards above 32Gb (might work, but not use full capacity) - there's a video about SD cards (again, would be much more helpful if that was just written down somewhere!).
@roger_mellie
Not just you - I used the contact form to ask where my camera was 2 weeks after ordering and never got a reply. It came a 2 or 3 days after so I didn't need to follow it up, but still.
Seems their communication is a mixed bag - if you're in the secret club you're on first name terms with the owner and get immediate support, otherwise you've been excommunicated. Wonder what I did wrong?
I contacted them via Facebook messenger rather than email / a contact form (which probably generates an email).
I guess that way they get a push notification on a phone as a print rather than an email.
Dammit. I went out for a ride last night with the camera on the bars. Stopped to chat to some friends I bumped into in the local park, and some b*****d in a flash Audi had decided to drive into the park and up the main path like a t**t (possibly chasing some kids who'd presumably annoyed him in some way). I called the police but he'd driven back out by the time I'd finished the call
I'd made sure to point my handlebars towards him as he drove past me so I could catch him on the camera. I rode off afterwards and a couple of minutes later realised that I'd forgotten to start recording. ****. I knew this would happen if I got a camera and needed it!
@thenorthwind, by default they will only take 32gb cards as they work on FAT32. You can format bigger cards to FAT32, as I said I've done it and it works. We did about 5hours out on Sunday's ride and I watched footage from the later portions of the ride
this is the download he recommends, worked fine for me

Can you format the card with it in the camera rather than a card reader?
USed a pc to do mine with a micro-SD adapter. not sure the PC recognised the camera as an external device to be honest - will try to rememebr to check later
@nbt I stand corrected, sounds like you know more about this than me!
I used the camera as an external device to copy the video files off so, yes it should be able to format the card too. Might have to have one or more of the switches in the right position?
Since lockdown has eased my Sheffield to Bakewell weekly bike commute has got bad again, with lots of close passing. Had been thinking of a camera and these look interesting.
Are people running just the one at the front or a pair to look both ways?
I'm just using one, anything remotely "close" seem to get the reg number
Thanks - I suppose 2 cameras would also be an extra thing to forget to charge/set going/connect to bike!
I’ve ordered one just for the front and going to see how that goes. Not sure where I’d put a rear one as I’ve got a saddle bag on at the moment.
Do they loop record, continuously record or is it switchable between the two?
I couldn't find the information anywhere. I tried emailing and didn't get a response. The telephone number on their website didn't ring either.
Do they loop record, continuously record or is it switchable between the two?
They record short videos of 3-6 minutes, see his Youtube video about setting the timestamp. Dunno what happens when the card is full!
Not sure where I’d put a rear one as I’ve got a saddle bag on at the moment.
I was thinking it might clip onto the seatstay, the new rotating barclamp thingy that comes with it looks good for that. Depends how likely it is to spin round into the spokes I guess... Haven't tried it yet due to my bike being out of action.
Do they loop record, continuously record or is it switchable between the two?
Switchable between the two although it only seems to charge when not on loop record so you have to remember to switch back after charging
Do they loop record, continuously record or is it switchable between the two?
There's a switch, which you need to know about - if you leave it on loop record when you plug it in to a USB power source, it won't charge as it think it's plugged into a car. You need to turn flip the switch to get it to charge the battery and flip it back if you want to use loop recording on the bike. See vid around 75 secs
Thank you.
@anagallis_arvensis sorry! I missed your post asking for a link to the time stamp thing
There's a comment from someone with a bit of code for a batch file that when double clicked automatically updates the timestamp. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and it works.
It would have been useful for this not to be necessary though. Given that the point of these cameras was to help with close passes/incidents, and the likelihood that a correct timestamp would be beneficial in such circumstances. I would have paid more for the camera - I would much rather a lower profile one such as the bullet style than the boxy ones like GoPro. But in the long term I may ditch the bullet for one that keeps the time properly.

As long as the battery doesn't go completely flat or you take it out it will keep time.

Sadly, I've not found this to be the case. I've never removed the battery, and I've never let it run flat. It's drifted on the timestamp on a few occasions. Maybe mine's a bit glitchy, but it's only a quick thing to set it before a ride, even with the manual method.
Still happy with the purchase given the price.
What exactly is the difference between the 2 recording modes? Is it that in loop recording it will delete the oldest clips when the card is full and in continuous it will just stop when full?

Exactly that, as I understand it. On loop record it records in 3 minute chunks, I've not tried continuous yet but might give a go later
Do I need one then? I'm sick of near death experiences and would love to start reporting them.
Need no, but useful to have I think. I’ve got one ready to go on the bike but can’t quite figure out at the moment how to open the gopro clamp I got thatthe torch sits in. Going to have to speak to chilli to check as I don’t want to force it / break it!
They are generally fine. Almost useless in the dark. I've not reported anyone yet. But I maybe could have. I use mine as much for the 'he's wearing a camera' effect as anything else.
And read above regarding the time stamp.
How are people getting on with these?
Just plugged mine into the computer for curiosity and there were only 3 files in there, 1 each for Nov, Dec & this morning. The one for today started just as I got to work which is near pointless.
I have it set to video camera and to loop.
Mines had about 4 incidents sent to the police, one sent on driver awareness course, one the police spoketo driver, 2 ignored.. so not bad. The battery randomly died and they sent me a new one for no charge when I asked about buying one.
