Not ridden there for years, used to ride it every now and then. The Chicky website says that the XC trails are a bit beaten up currently. Anyone know if the XC stuff is worth the drive over from Woburn?

The "website" you refer to do absolutely sod all to the XC Trails, they only deal with the bikepark, even if they claim to they do not, the XC routes are not even maintained or waymarked properly anymore. The only way you know how to get around is someone has spray painted arrows on a rough route.

There are plenty of trails in Chicksands but no great length though you can spend an hour or so knocking around them , however if Woburn is your usual spot you will gain nothing coming to Chicksands for XC only, other than a change of scenery.

Cheers Bigbloke, as I suspected so I won't be bothering to come over any time soon.

Matt, yeah, it's been a long time coming but I'm getting back into it.

Woburn conditions are spot on at the moment! Damp enough to get some grip, not too dry to make the sand a 'mare, but not too wet that's you're sliding around on top of all the pine cones etc 😉

I wouldn't go to Chicksands purely for the XC (unless it was within riding distance of my door), but for a quick blast round the woods and then some paying about in the bike park area it's a lot of fun.

I've only ever been mid-week when it's deserted. I can't imagine it would be much fun at the weekend when there would be witnesses to my mincing down the 4X/dual-slalom etc.!

Hiya Lampchop

Its been a long time since Ive thrown a leg over (I mean the bike!!)
Thinking of getting the lycra on again and pootling out....

Im next door to Chicksands now so if you fancy a real slow bimble give me a shout and maybe we can show the kids how its done :o)

Anyone heard from the oldgang?
Not been in touch with Plitts, NNB, MK Nick,Rich, Millwall or anyone for years.
Keep in touch with Oldgit from time to time
Its been a very difficult last few years but finally got myself together and more than happy in my new world.

Still look back at great memories and as Im fifty in a few days time I feel its time for a few more smiles..... 😀

Hello you old ****ers.

It's an audacious over exaggeration for Lambchop to suggest that I am contemplating dragging my obese carcass out on a bike. It's all part of his cunning brain washing.

I would literally die on a bike if I tried it at the moment. I get out of breath climbing stairs and have a huge amount of weight to lose before I'd be safe to ride. I was never svelte in the good old days but I've blown that in the last five.

Lambchop is looking bearded but good. I struggle to picture him riding without me. It's like man-rape without Rohypnol and KY

He has a new amigo now.

I have a couple of bikes in shed. One is a SS hilariously.

Id love to get fitter and pootle around with old chums.

Walt... PM me to swap eMaill addies.

****ers !!

Good to see some old names cropping up again - Remember me? Blue Hustler, used to bump into you guys at Woburn now and then. Will look out for you next time I'm passing through Chicky. Always welcome in the Barton Hills if you fancy it sometime...

Hmmm, dogging type car park for the meet, grown blocks mincing about on SS bikes blaming the tyres for the off's then flapjack & a vague recollection of some dodgy bloke with a prince Albert back in the carpark, oh yeah, let's do it again 😉
