Anyone done anything around Chiang Mai? Any recommendations of companies to rent bikes / get guiding / uplifts from?
Got a bit of time over xmas and heading in that direction to free myself from blighty's damper season 🙂
Not been for a fair few years. My pal Stewartc on here is just back. He’ll be along soon .. (it’s ace)
Chiang Rai is nicer.
He’ll be along soon ..
Just back from the recent International Chiang Mai Enduro and tend to go once or twice a year, feel free to PM me for info on guides, accommodation etc.
Trails have been worked due to the recent race and I have never seen them in such good condition, there's even some loam there now which Ive never seen before.
Now till March is a good time to go and now there is a good choice of guides these days that even have bikes that are fit for purpose (though its always better to take your own).
Agree with everything Stewart says - top place. 🙂
Last time I was there, Trailhead had a fleet of tolerable-looking rental bikes whereas X-Biking's were genuinely awful. That may have changed though.
Lovely place. We did some biking with X-biking. They were a bit disorganised (probably because they are bikers not businessmen) but the riding was great. Bikes were OK, proper downhill rigs. I had a pretty basic kona but it handled the terrain superbly, the wife has a very nice spesh demo. Make sure you do some other stuff too. We had a few nights at an elephant sanctuary, did some rafting, night safari at the zoo, a bit of jungle trekking, saw a lot of temples and ate some great food.
