It's probably been done to death, but I'm after a dropper for my Spark. Drop needs to be 125mm (31.6) maximum due to length of seat tube.
Only other thing is, due to the twinloc remote, I'd need a 2x style remote, rather than a trigger.
I've looked at new/used Fox Transfers on eBay and also had a look at Brand X on Chain Reaction. To be honest, I'm not sure what to go for.
In the past, I've had Specialized Command Post, a few Reverbs, Magura Vyron and a Revive. I don't really want to spend that sort of money this time around, so max budget is about £200 including the remote.
My missus has a Bontrager Drop Line on her bike, but it always feels awful after one ride! Then I need to strip it and clean it to make it work.
I would pick the cable dropper of my choice and fit a Specialized Command dual lever onto the end of the grip. If you want to go that way I may have a dual one in the spares box. Would need to check when we get back home
The brand X has been fine for me, I think you can buy a lever that wil work with 2x as well. I saw it recently for near £100 on CRC, not sure what the price is right now.
Ah nice one, cheers Tracey 🙂
If you're back before next weekend, I might take you up on that.
After converting my last Reverb to cable, iI'll be going cable again. Also looking at the Oneup dropper too. Looks very adjustable and uses the cable stop at the post end.
Yeah, I've been having a look. They're not much more than £100 now.
Reverbs are (or are pretty regularly) sub 200 on crc, with the button remote, so will work with 2x
Will have a look and let you know
I have a reverb B1 in the classifieds, but it’s 150mm.
I have just brought a One up dropper as the reviews look great. My LBS have been using them and say they are faultless. You can shim them down to 120mm extremely easily and come in at £200 with a carbon lever.
I have a 150mm Reverb on my Hightower that's for sale, but it's just too long 🙁
The Oneup actually seems spot on to be fair, but I can't use the trigger style remote due to the Twinloc lever. Thinking of a Bontrager style 2x remote to go with it.
Just had a look at the Specialized remotes Tracey and I don't think it'd work as the cable stop is on the lever end. Thanks a lot for the offer though 🙂
Have a look at the RSP Plummet. Had the stealth model on my hardtail for 18 months, no problems at all, and still nice and smooth after running it through our last wet winter.
Cost £85, comes with an alright 2x style remote, 125mm drop, and 31.6 diameter.
Cheers @ajantom I'll have a look at them. Good to hear you've had no issues with it as they seem uncommon.
Yeah, it was a bit of an experiment to see how good a budget post would be.
Thought I'd probably run it for a few months and then upgrade to a posher post, but it's really been faultless (it'll explode tomorrow now 😆)
A lot of the cheaper posts (and a few more pricey ones) have a very similar look. I'm not saying that they're all basically the same catalogue products, but apart from a few aesthetic tweeks they do look like it 🤔
Well, you've buggered it now! 🙂
Hopefully though it'll keep on performing!
If you're interested I've got an unused brand X ascend (not sure if it's the original at 120mm or newer at 125mm tbh) going spare. It came off a new Vitus Sommet and I kept it for another bike build but can't see that happening any time soon so it's surplus to requirements. Stealth routing. £75 and it's yours. matt dot will at email dot com if you're interested.
I've used the 120mm and 150mm and just bought a 170mm Brand-X.
They are the same internals as the OnOne and you can even use the same OnOne shims to reduce the travel (eg reduce my girlfriends 150mm BrandX to 140mm with a home made shim).
BrandX have shifted from clamping the cable at the post to clamping at the lever but with NO changes to the actual post so you should be able to use any old 2x lever out there.I'm actually using an original Maverick remote lever (remember them) with mine as I like the 'hit it anyway you like to actuate' mode of operation.
Thanks guys, I ended up going for the Oneup. Might as well give it a try and see how I get on.

Hi mate, is that a typo? Instead of "OnOne" do you actually mean the OneUp shims?
Cheers!
Op, I’m new to droppers and just looking into this, can I ask how you are routing the dropper on your Spark please?
I’m looking at the Brand X Ascend 2, but I’d be interested in any feedback on the Vyron.
Yes @Poopscoop - predictive text seems to have decided OneUp should be replaced every time by OnOne - sorry.
To be honest, I'll let you know when I attempt it!
I'v bought a cable guide kit from Pedalon so I can route the cable through the downtube, and possibly up the seatube.
Had a look at someone's 120mm version the other week to see how it was done. I'll try to remember to take pics.
I too was going to get a Vyron (had one on another bike), but they are quite spendy!
Cheers mate handy to know I can get/make shims for the BX as I'll be getting one for my lads bike.
Yeah the Vyron’s aren’t cheap. I’ll look forward to hearing how this goes, I’m slowly being convinced by many people to put a dropper on the bike!
I’ve always had them on full suspension, as I think they’re a great invention. It definitely depends on what sort of riding you do.
i like a fast rocky descent and love having the saddle out of the way so I can move about more. I’ve been coping without one, but can’t wait to get one fitted again.
Well, UBYK finally delivered my One Up 150mm dropper. I fitted it to my Scott Spark and routed the cable internally.
I will say to anyone looking to do this (Kryton57, I'm looking at you)... just buy a Magura Vyron!
It took a solid 2 hours of trying with feeding the cable down the seat tube, for it to emerge at the head tube! I'm using the Bontrager 2x lever. It's a little stiff to activate, but it works a treat otherwise.
It's never coming off now and I'm really not looking forward to replacing any outer cables!
