Pulled my old Orange Evo4 out of the garage, never used for 2 years. Have Schwalbe Nobby Nik back, racing Ralph front, completely knacked. Don't want to spend a fortune, £50 a pair max. What decent all rounder is the go to these days?

Hans Dampf are good all rounders or yer classic Highrollers.

Shop round for price but go sticky front/less sticky back.

I think you'll find all tyres are round! I'd be worried if I had a tyre which was not all round 😀 Sorry, couldn't resist.

You haven't had any Continental tyres then?

This, at least for the front. Or maybe the back in your case.

On One Chunky Monkey/Smorgasbord

Came in here to suggest this, I see someone already has. So +1 for that.

The last cheaper tyres I bought were Continental Mountain King 2's in 2.4" with protection sidewalls and black chilli compound. They were actually awesome in comparison to the performance compound nobby nic's I'd had on the bike before.

Think I paid £50 for the pair from CRC or Wiggle. Running with tubes though - I don't think they play nicely with tubeless.

I've just ordered a pair of those XR4s, seems like a properly good deal for a decent sized tubeless ready tyre.

The combination of Nic on the back and Ralph on the front seems really bizarre. I guess anything would be better than that, and I would have said XR4's as well but I see you are sorted.

Fitted and rode the XR4 Team Issue tyres today. Great tyres!
Probably the easiest tubeless setup I've ever done - WTB i25 rims, fitted pretty easily without resorting to tyre levers, and both went up easily with a track pump. Added sealant pumped up again, and rode 🙂

Excellent grip on my local terrain - lots of loam, sand, gravel, roots, and boggy bits. Didn't spin out once, and felt comfortable hooning down some pretty steep and technical singletrack.

Very happy at £16.99 a tyre. Might buy a couple as spares.
