I'd need all the bits, as I currently run 3x8. I've been reading various threads on here but I'm not clear as to the mix of SRAM and Shimano bits that work and don't cost an arm and a leg. Would like one of those clutch mechs (long cage, short cage? no idea) but other than that don't really have a clue where to start.

Put some requests on the wanted forum

To go 1x10 from 3x8 you'll probably want a cassette, a mech and a shifter and likely a chain and chain device too

If you want to spend a bit more then chuck in a new front ring and some bolts

I spent about £130 to do it thanks to the generosity of some STW people and its been great

You could go 1x8 without doing anything, just don't use the granny and big ring 🙂

Cassette, chain and chain rings need replacing before winter so good time to change. Sounds like classifieds is worth a punt, cheers. Interested to know roughly how much to get the lot new though.

My build: deore cranks, hope ring, zee rear mech, slx shifter+ cassette, KMC chain and mrp 1x chain guide.
Came to about £140 mostly new stuff from the classifieds.
