I’m going to use an old Mtb frame as a turbo trainer bike. I’ve managed to get an 11 speed road cassette and rear mech for very little cash but the shifters are pricey...
Any ideas? Doesn’t need to look beautiful or shift crazy smoothly. In other words a friction thumby or bar end shifter would be fine...
Don't know if these might limit your use of the lower gears but cheap and should work:

Or 8 speed old skool band on ones (braze ones also available for the same cost):

Hope this helps. Enjoy staring at the walls!
thanks slowol - anyone had any experience of using these older shifters with something like an 11speed 105 rear mech?
If you don’t need to change gear at all (ie using with a smart trainer / trainer with adjustable resistance) could you just wind both limit screws so it’s fixed on one rear cog?
