*That is, a cheap bike for a lady, not a bike for a cheap woman.

After a short break at Centre Parcs, where my partner realised she did rather like cycling after all and it did NOT hurt her bottom parts, she has suggested that she might need a bike. I'm overjoyed, as is our two-year old daughter. But what do we go for?

I'm thinking a hub geared, rigid hybrid bike would be fine for her, but not sure what's out there at a decent price, doesn't weigh tons and isn't from Halfords. Price range? Less than £200 would be magical. Of course, the spanner in the works is that she likes the look of the town bikes Victoria Pendleton's pedalling at the moment (pedalling in a Derek Trotter sense, not a track cycling world champ sense).

Any thoughts, makes, models and left-field ideas would be greatly appreciated.
