I'm looking for a cheap road bike for the winter. Last year I bought a Carrera TDF which did the job nicely, but I sold it on in spring. Looking at Halfords again for something cheap (and they have 10% extra off at the moment) and the Pendleton Initial looks great value for money...but its a women's bike. With 10% and British Cycling discount it'd be just over £200 for a Claris equipped alu road bike, which seems ok for me. Could a bloke 'get away' with riding one? Thinking the colour scheme etc look pretty neutral, but not sure the geometry might be wrong for a bloke?

Other than that there was a Carrera Zelos which is 7sp and costs more: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/carrera-zelos-road-bike-2015
Merlin are doing a Claris equipped bike for £300 (plus postage), but would it be worth the extra £130 ish on top of the Pendleton?
the merlin looks great, very good value
Have got the Carrera TdF Halfords were doing earlier this year you can have for £200, not even built it up yet! Bought one for myself and one for the Mrs to see if we liked road riding, I did and have since splashed out on a full carbon Trek - Madame hasn't even looked at hers since we picked it up! Email in profile if you want more info etc.
Sorry for the hijack, but I'm selling this:

I bought it as to take on holiday as I needed something that would take 28mm tyres. Would make an ideal winter bike as it's got plenty of room for guards and panniers etc. Full sora group set. 🙂
The Pinnacle looks great, but at 5' 4" it's going to be a bit big for me. Thanks though.
No bother. ?
