No hood, just fairly cheap as it has the potential to get trashed.

Any recommendations?

I use a Nike Acg one, massive front vent and proper internal pocket for keys n'that. Good long tail to stop mud ending up down my tld pyjama bum crack and enough room for armour underneath.

Depending on how large you are, Wiggle are doing an 'emergency waterproof' type shell jacket for £12 at the moment but only in small or medium and only in red.

Here:

I've just ordered one today. I imagine it will be a bit 'boil in the bag' but fine for stashing in a pocket as a 'just in case' jacket.

Might be worth having a trawl of their website, they've got a sale on so have got some good prices on 'proper' waterproofs too.

If its properly pissing with rain, 1 piece suite is the way to go. They can get a bit warm, but if its raining, its typically cold!

Random cheap waterproof from some outdoors supermarket. Mine is aldi or lidl, can't remember. It's a really undemanding job tbh, you don't need to worry anything like as much about breathability imo, you just want a LOT of waterproofing and windproofing for standing about, and a lot of cheapness for crashing into things, and not too much flappy. And big pockets are good.

Cheap motorbike overjacket would do it too- I wore my old hein gericke onepiece for a race at glencoe in the epic pissing rain, lifesaver.

I do have a Millets down the road that sell packaway jackets. They come with hoods though which is annoying.

The Decathlon one should be good enough at £11? They are a bit boil in the bag for XC but do keep the water out quite well.
