[Closed] Cheap, strong, rear wheel - Any bargains, recommendations?

In an attempt to stop my rear wheel rubbing the chain stays (previous exciting thread can be found [url= http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/marin-quad-tara-flexy-rear ]here[/url]) I am contemplating a new stiffer rear wheel.

Bike gets used for the odd trip to the Lakes, Peaks and the Alps but needs to be able to cope with being ridden up hills and down under the stress of my 15st bulk and complete lack of skills 😉

Any recommendations? Would like to keep the price down as close to a £100 as possible.

Would a thru axle, instead of a QR, make a difference?
