Bit out of touch with what's good and what's not now.

I've got an old Joystick, is great and a new one seems the obvious answer, buuuuuuut I've just realised my existing Joystick is only 400 lumen! I've been happy riding with that up till now so probably don't need much more (especially since the old one will be on the helmet for the tricky bits.

Is there anything obvious I'm missing for under £100? What about the Wiggle Lifeline Pavos, any good?

Ta

For a bar light I prefer integrated battery designs. How abouth this: 800 lumen £50 Cateye

This looks okay if you don't need masses of lumens.

You just missed out on the Lezyne 1600xxl. CRC had them at £78 but they are out of stock now

Nice link, thanks!

The Cat-Eye looked good, but the Lezyne Macro Drive 1300 looks better I think...

Surprised to see no Halford Advanced 1600 recommendation. They do a 1000 & 500 versions too, if your happy with less power, 2 year warranty included

Out of the ones on the MBR link I'd have the Lezyne light too.

I've got the 1600 version and I'm very happy with it. I've got a few Lezyne lights and they all seem well made

I won't touch another lezyne light ever again, paid good money for my super drive 1500 xxl and its now unusable ofter 2 seasons. Very bright but build quality is terrible with a couple of very obvious design flaws on the mount(repairable with a bodge) and charge port which has just broken completely.
Just got a 2500 lumen(probably less but its bright enough) off amazon for £20, seems very robust but its only just turned up so I can't vouch for longetivity yet. Also comes with a bundled in rear light.
Link

If I get one year out of it it's been better value than my previous 2 lezynes

I have a Cateye 400 lumen light on my commuter, and the Halfords 1600 lumen thing. I've had the Cateye for a couple of years of daily winter commutes and I'm really happy with it. The Halfords is new to me so can't comment on longevity. But both seem really good to me - compact, solid, well built etc.

The 1600 Halfords one is a different beast in terms of size / power / weight though. For off road I'd recommend the Halfords one, although you probably won't see your Joystick's beam at all!

I use an Evolva X8 from Amazon, it was around £50 a couple of years ago and still going strong.

It's sold under a few names 'soonfire FD38S' is one of them and is available on Prime.

THIS!

Mine has been far more reliable than my Exposure MaxxD...

Picked up a Cat Eye AMPP 1100 for £70, couldn't resist the extra 300 lumen for £20 more than the AMPP 800.

https://www.merlincycles.com/cateye-ampp-1100-usb-rechargeable-front-light-162366.html?utm_source=PHG&utm_medium=AffiliateMarketing&utm_campaign=phg-GB&ucpo=89256&source=PHG

It was actually the clamp that sold it for me, reading elsewhere the Halfords ones needed a bit of bodging to be truly secure, didn't read any similar accounts about the Cat Eye. It's just for CX duties so although there will be a bit of rattling from unseen roots and rocks, it won't be high speed MTB jumps and G-forces so am sure it will be fine...

My Evolva X8 died, flashing led on oneside. The Lezyne replacement has been superb.
