Toying with the idea of gettng a road bike. Nothing serious, just for occassional rides round local back lanes and maybe further afield when i can be bothered. Seen these which look really good value compared to the likes of Giant/Trek etc.

Any good or worth avoiding?

My BiL has a Decathlon bike he uses as a commuter 5 days a week, 20 mile a day. So far the only problems he's had are the wheels, so has replaced the rear as kept snapping spokes and running out of tru. He is a big lad mind.

For the money they aren't bad for the use you described, but imo I'd be looking for a 12 month old ish 2nd hand Spesh/Giant/Trek for not much more than that sort of money.

Looks like a lot of bike for the cash to me. I've had the low end Shimano STi's on a previous bike and find them decent enough.

Looks good. Cheap as chips. Ok spec. Nice colour. What's not to like? Good find.
Go for it!

That'll do nicely for a starter machine
