As per title - I want to to see my HR on my head unit, but I don't want to swap my Apple Watch for a Garmin (fussy, I know). Any recommendations for a cheap but reliable chest strap, or other strategy?

I found a Coospro HRM strap was quite cheap and works OK with my Garmin. It does BT but for some reason refuses to talk to my iPhone.

I also have a Wahoo Tickr that works well too, but has nice flashing lights to tell you if you are still alive, and does BT to my iPhone, but costs a bit more.

I've got the Coospo chest strap HRM & it's been great for the last couple of years I've owned it.

I give the strap an occasional rinse & make sure that I take the electronic bit off after every use & dry all the contacts.
I had a Magene chest strap previously that I didn't do this with & the contacts rusted - hardly surprising once I'd thought about it.

I have a Garmin and a Magene. They both do the job.

Think mine was from aliexpress, not a specific recommendation just a thought that they're all the same anyway. Even my older Garmin one if you looked at the ant+ data came up as a completely unknown manufacturer, presumably whoever's making the chips. Ditto my speed/cadence came from similar sources.

My non-garmin eBay special monitor was terrible, but having said that even my proper Garmin monitor takes about 5-10mins to get up to speed..

Thanks all. I just ordered a COOSPO armband from AliExpress for 10 quid delivered. If it works for a while it'll be a good deal !!

If you are wearing the apple watch can you get it to transmit the HR. My Garmin can and a quick search suggest you might need an app called heartcast.

Any heart rate strap should work, I got one from lidl or aldi that I think worked with my edge. I still have a boxed one, I think, if you want it.

Just googled that and I might just pick one up cheers, I've just been broadcasting HR from my instinct when using a bar mount computer since my Garmin strap died the other week, but a chest strap is a little less flakey generally.

ooh that got me excited , but Garmin is not supported on that or similar apps. No surprise - Garmin is only marginally compatible with itself!

thanks for the kind offer but I ordered from Ali now so I’ll see what they bring.
