My lads camera is a bit poo. In the sense it barely ever works...
He's on a young teenagers budget, so what's an option for him ?
No desperate hurry on it, so importing would be fine but needs to be fairly cheap.
I've not had great luck with chinese and Aldi specials. The footage quality can be alright, but the frustration caused by crappy interfaces is painful. Based on that I'd recommend used GoPro over a budget brand.
I have two opened but never used GoPro copies that I need rid of. I can send you the spec if you want.
Sure mate... lob it over on here please... And a price.
If you're between BPW and Afan today that'd be even better 😀 😀
The cheap ones are rubbish
you need the go pro image stabilisation or MTB footage is unwatchable despite various claims
I'm not sure either of our budgets stretch that far mate.
What everyone else said - cheap ones are rubbish and disappointing. Maybe try to get an older refurb or second hand GoPro on Ebay?
I’ve got a GoPro Hero 3+ going spare, the Wi-Fi bits never worked, but the rest is fine. He’s welcome to it if you stick a couple of quid in a charity pot.

awwww thats' exceptionally kind Jim and would be lovely if you don't mind mate, even if only as a short term option. We don't use the wi-fi on his anyway as it's a bit of a battery drainer.
No worries, It’s been in the draw since I swapped my turbo trainer for a Hero 7.
WhatsApp me your address and I’ll get it sent later today.
I've got to echo what the others have said. I bought a cheap Crosstour earlier in the year. It was useful to sort of learn what I wanted from an action cam. The results were variable. Quite decent when road riding on smoothish surfaces but mtb trails the stabilisation just never worked... it was supposed to have Electronic Image Stabilisation EIS but it wasn't up to the job.
A few months ago I treated myelf to a GoPro 8.... what a difference. No comparison. Superview, stabilisation just brilliant.
Anyone want to suggest which Go-Pro model is worth starting with nowadays? No bells of whistles required (eg: don't need wifi/4k not required) but fancy recording some of my local summer trails for my own amusement
I have sent you PM.
I have a pair of Akasos, they've both been great. Not super cheap though.
Gopro 7 Black was the first to come with usable image stabilisation for MTBing?
A used Osmo Action otherwise.
I have an Akaso Brave 7 LE. I haven't actually tried any Go Pros since the very first one but it's certainly better than a cheapo one from Argos! The video quality is certainly "good enough".
@jimmy748 has amazingly donated a GoPro hero 3+ to the lad. Top fella.
It was the GoPro 7 that had the stabilisation powered by witchcraft I think. I'd look for a s/h 7 or earlier from FB marketplace.
