Can anyone recommend a cheap (ish) DIY frame protection kit ? I would like to wrap the toptube, downtube and chainstays. I think there is a 3M version previously recommended ?

I got the basic £30 kit from indibike which gets you:

Top tube – 550 x 75
Down tube – 560x 90
Back of seat tube – 500x 50
2 x Seat stay – 360 x 30
2 x Chain stay – 300x 35
2x Seatstay - 280x35
3 x Small cable rub dots
6 x Small cable rub squares
2x Head rub stoppers for headtube
1 x oval cable rub patch
2 x curved sections 60x20

Plus a bunch of spare offcuts which you can cut to size.

I did mine in clear gorilla tape before I strapped a load of bikepacking stuff to it. It looks shit, partly because of the zigzag edges.

Yeah, don't use clear Gorilla tape. Gets very grotty.

I now use unbranded helitape off eBay, it's lasted really well.

Not sure if it was this seller, but this kind-of thing:

Any other recommendations ? Do small air bubbles work there way out of the Helitape ?

I invisiframed my Bird Aether... one thing i do notice is... the shiny stuff is incredible at not sticking/holding dirt.... it's amazing how clean it comes back after a muddy ride...

Sure, the kit is more expensive than some.. but it's very very effective.
