Looking to head off and do a couple of uplift days once things open up fully again as a change to Lakes, Wales, Dark Peak natural stuff. Dont want to spend a fortune (yeah, yeah I know I only get one head etc...) as will only get worn 3 or 4 times a year.

Anything recommends for under £100, should I consider/avoid 2nd hand?

Bell Sanction.

I also bought a Bluegrass from Wiggle that's super comfortable but £10 over budget

Cost of a crash

MRI
X-ray
One afternoon in a+e
6 months of intermittent headaches- linked ? not linked? Not sure
£3000! In whistler last summer. I was very glad of travel insurance and the full face I trusted.

I went for a Troy lee to replace the one I crashed in because it fit perfectly . They went from £££ to a bit over a hundred

No.

Don’t buy a helmet because it’s cheap. Buy one that fits, then finding the cheapest one of that kind. As for sub £100. That’s what, 2 uplift days?

Definitely don’t buy one someone else might have dropped/crashed/whatever.

Does it matter? They're all tested to the same standard.

They all meet and exceed the standards by some unspecified different amount.

Nope, there are tangible benefits like MIPS, but in most cases more money equals - lighter, better venting and a lot of flash paint and marketing (Troy Lee) or fancy paint (£300 for a iridescent painted Fox ff).

You can of course go too cheap, but I once had a 661 FF that cost £25 on some dropship discounting website which stood up to a hell of a faceplant, it was a bit ugly and sweaty but it passed the same standards as a £400 Carbon D4.

The hardest thing at the moment with Covid (not the hardest thing about covid, just buying helmets) is that I doubt anyone will want you trying on a load to see what fits best.

I needed an occasional full-face but also wanted a new everyday helmet so I bought a Bell Super 3R. Fits the bill perfectly. Paid £125 for mine but its two helmets in one

I bought a 661 from chain reaction , that was around £70 for the occasional adrenaline uplifts at Inners. Yup its not as good as my sons Oneil one which comes with a fidlock strap but fits well and dosent get too hot.
The thing I noticed with any full face is the lack of vision compared to an enduro helmet. This might seem obvious to some but at Innerleithen a lot of trails cross each other so I felt I had to pay more attention also your hearing isnt as good. That said the thought of losing your teeth using a trail helmet dosent bear thinking about. The other thing which is a good thing is my POC trail helmet dosent work to well with my goggles asIt pinches my nose. The full face is way more comfier.
If you can get a fidlock helmet its also much easier than mucking about with press studs .

the only bit that is tested is the main shell not the chinbar.

I’m the same as you in that I occasionally uplift or go to push up places trying to jump (badly in my case), so I wanted a full face for that.
I impulse bought one a few years ago at BPW in their shop - a 7idp one. I’ve not had to test it luckily but it’s comfy and not too hot considering it’s at the cheaper end of things. Pretty sure I paid £70 for it but the newer version seems to be £99.99. I believe it might be the same shell as some of the 661 helmets but that’s just something I read on a forum.
