Anyone used or had any dealings with cheap Avid HS1 discs? I need some for a set of commuting wheels and they would match what I already have. Seen numerous pairs of HS1's online for £7 ish. Possibly knock off items due to the cost of shop bought discs but are they up to the job?

Is it just the disc itself you want? Cheap Superstar ones will probably do fine.

If it's a cheap mechanical setup you want, Hayes MX4's crop up secondhand quite often on ebay [OEM only I think] etc and I really rate them.

Yes it was just the disc. The rear wheel I bought had a new superstar wave disc on but on first try there was no bite and it was struggling to slow down. Not sure if it was contaminated, needs bedding in or just poor.

Try 35 Bikes, they have an ebay shop, http://stores.ebay.co.uk/35bikes?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

I'm currently running their disks and they're perfectly OK.
