We're off to stay nr Chatel this weekend for 2 weeks of family holidays. Kids are 6 and 8, and both have Isla bikes, with the 8yr old having the one with front suspension and disc brakes. Both like their riding, particularly the 8yr old, and love flowy bermed trails.

Q1 - how much riding is there that would be suitable for them out there?
Q2 - should we take their Isla bikes, or hire something out there?

Many thanks!

Q1 - The two green trails are very long and would be fine low speed.
Q2 - not sure if there would be any thing that small to rent. There were 24" wheel full suss.

Not a lot for young kids unless they are particularly able . As above there are a couple of green runs accessed from chair lift. The older one could probably tackle parts of the blues, but it does get pretty nasty if wet. You do need to watch out for storm troopers riding round there with kids even on the green runs. I took my 5yr old on pas du Montagne, from Plaine Dranse back to Chatel. It is quite demanding for a kid and quite rocky/exposed , I would check it out yourself first. It's a great ride though. If you have a car there are some lovely rides around lac leman near montreaux. Just smooth paths but very pretty and some great playgrounds along the way. There is also an easy path along the dranse river starting near abondance, they were extending it last year. it is in the shade so good on a hot day. Take the kids own bikes if you plan on much riding.
