I am in the market for our first bike trailer for a child. It will be used for touring as well as local rides and so we want something very reliable - I've narrowed my choice down to the Burley D'lite and the Chariot Cougar 2.

I have managed to see the Burley but cannot find a local stockist of the Chariots who have it in stock. I know they are popular on here and was wondering if anyone had a Chariot Cougar 2 (or Cougar 1) that they wouldn't mind me popping over to take a look at.

We live near Epsom and I am happy to drive up to an hour each way.

I'm in West Kent near Borough Green and I have one that you'd be welcome to come and have a look at. Fantastic bit of kit and the kids love it nearly as much as I do.

I may be looking to sell it as my kiddies are all getting to the point where they don't need to be dragged about so much.

Give me a shout on my email and we can sort out a vist.

Cheers

I sold mine a year or so back to a guy in Bookham, but don't know whether he still has it- drop me an email and I can give you his contact details if you like.

It's an older model though, so I think there's been a fair few changes to the feature list.

Clanton...just out of interest ( and as someone who is going to be a dad in July) is this secondary to your buggy or will you have just the chariot ?

Ive been looking at the BOB revolution...and was going to buy a separate trailer ?

Brack we've been really lucky and borrowed most bits and bobs so far (a benefit of having kids later in life than your mates!) so we have a basic pram which tbh we've used once only. we use a Bjorn sling when we're out and about which is easy and ceonvenient and the kid loves it.

So we may end up using the Chariot as a buggy/stroller/puschchair (still struggling to get the terminology right!) as well as a trailer. Not currently planning on buying a seperate buggy.

We have a Cougar 1, and we're in St Albans, you're welcome to come have a eyeball one weekend.

Chariot are in the middle of switching distributors at the moment which is why they're a bit thin on the ground. They'll soon be available through Madison though so your LBS should be able to make enquiries.

Ok ?

We are struggling with just what to go for tbh.

Went to the baby show this weekend in London and absolutely fell for the B.O.B revolution buggy - it is perfect for what we need as we live in the country and are always away at weekends to Wales/ Lakes.

But

What it doesnt do is attach to a bike - which is a tad bizarre being that BOB are a cycling based company?

I have seen pics of the chariot - but stopped looking when id read reviews that it wasn't so user friendly around town etc - too big ?

Can it be used for a newborn ?

Brack from what I've read they are quite manouvrable and less bulky than many trailers - though i am sure more bulky than many strollers.

Our main priority is its function as a bike trailer - and in particular for some dirt road/ remote road use. Everything else is a secondary consideration.

Now the one I REALLY want is the tout terrain single trailer - simply because it looks very cool but I suspect is rather less useful for general use!

Ok cool.

But not suitable for a new born ? ie can you put a cot in it for the pram/ buggy mode?

There are two supporting accessories you can get for it - one from 1 month (though apparently not for use whilst cycling) the other from 6 months - although I think people use the second one from 3 months?

Worth bearing in mind that the Cougar is sold as a base model only when comparing prices - you pay extra for the bike hitch, the stroller attachments, the jogger bits, the waterproof cover etc etc!

Ours went in the infant sling at ten days old, at six months he graduated to the baby supporter, we did some rides with the infant sling but very slow gentle ones, he's a bit more robust now so we'll be bashing round the fire roads come spring.

My wife can get more shopping in her City Select but the Chariot's lighter and rolls better so I prefer to use it when we walk into town with him, the suspension seems to help him nod off too. It is wider than most strollers but that's why it's so stable and the big wheels make it much easier to push.
