Trying to figure out how to charge my Garmin while it's on the bike.
I used to have an Edge Touring which had the USB on the rear, facing you.
However this Explore one has the USB port on the bottom so you can't plug a USB cable while it's on the bike? I normally have it on the stem mount you get with it.
Just tried it on the bar mount, fits but needs a right angle cable really
I had the same problem when i replaced my edge touring with an edge explore. I got around it by using a sram out-front mount and a usb cable with a 90° connector from amazon.
Garmin out front mount on mine, and the battery in a top tube bag.
Ah, ok - I've got an out-front mount somewhere.
I did wonder about a low-profile 90 degree USB connector
I have a Garmin out front reversed so it sits alongside the topcap + a standard charge cable + battery pack in top tube bag and it works fine.
I did wonder about a low-profile 90 degree USB connector
That's what I do
Be careful leaving the cable attached when off road, the micro usb port on Explores (why are Garmin always 2 steps behind current standards?) is very fragile, I've broken 3, the current one is permenently attached with epoxy glue but on it's way out. If the Explore had the contacts on the 1/4 turn mount like the 530,830 and 1030 which would connect to their auxiliary battery, it would be the perfect unit for me.
