Hi All,
Anyone had a charger 2.1 damper that is really squishy on rebound? Bought a new lyrik ulitmate (not the new new one) as there was a good deal - rebound squish was mega loud - sent it back got warranty replaced and the new one is arguably worse. Just cant ride the fork because of the noise - its really irritating. Anyone else have the same experience - any fixes for it? heavier oil in damper?
Hi mate were these by any chance the versions CRC and wiggle recently had a sale on.?
Ie did you purchase them from either of the above.i did and I have a similar issue and have received some astounding information from a well regarded suspension service centre regarding the authenticity of my fork
Authenticity? I'd expect them to be grey import, but I'd not expect them to be fake!
We've two forks running 2.1 charger and both make a noise in rebound. They're certainly not silent but not loud enough to put me off riding them.
What pressure and how much rebound?
Not from crc or wiggle but at a similar price- ive had them in to sram warranty already so they must be genuine- they replaced the damper but the replacement is just as bad - very noisy. rebound noise is defo from the damper, and its really veryoff putting. They actually work and feel really nice though - which is annoying. i like quiet stuff - my old lyriks with charger damper are silent in comparison.
you can hear the squishy rebound noise on every bump they hit off road. was just curious to see if anyone else had a similar experience
75 psi and 3 tokens in air leg. damper running rebound half way through. gets worse the more rebound you put on.
Some rebound damping noise is normal, both my fox 36 and mezzer pro do it with high speed rebound (so if the fork is more than a third into its travel) but it's more a 'whoosh' than a 'squelch'.
I think some of the Lyriks squelch a bit more than others. Mine are fairly quiet (RC2 2.1 Ultimate) but a mate had a Yari with a 2.1 rc2 damper retro fitted and I always thought that made a squelching noise whenever I had a go on it. Didn’t seem to make any difference to the performance.
ive got 2018 lyriks with th charger damper and they are fine - i was curious to see if it was just the noise the 2.1 damper made (2021 version). i half tempted just to chuck my 2018 damper in and be done insteadof returning the fork
Now after a strip down they said they'd never seen a brand new fork assembled so poorly but they are still baffled by the serial number which isn't laser etched it's punched in like the local Bobbie's used to stamp your postcode on your bottom bracket in the late 80,s
I'll take some photos Tom
