As above - standard spoon ~£18, ti spoon £~£38.

Don't care re weight (I can easily lose 100g off me if I cared that much), but will ti rails be maw better in terms of comfort on an alu HT frame? tame XC use mainly...

Thanks

(veiled for sale offers may be considered)

Nah. The padding is the same and that loses effectiveness after a year or so anyway. The theory is that the Ti rails should be a wee bit more comfy. I can't say I've ever really noticed the difference on any other Ti-railed saddle.

Agree with scotroutes, got spoons on all nine bikes, the titanium is by far the most tatty, and the rivets have now given up

I thought it was only a weight thing. IT is a bit off topic but have you looked a fabric saddles. I think they now make the charge ones. Having had a spoon in the past I find the scoop a much better option. They do loads of options which may be a better way to spend your money. I've just got a cut out one for my roadie and it is much more comfortable.

At one point I had a spoon and a knife (as the Ti spoon was called then).

I thought that the knife has slightly thinner padding and a slightly more flexy base. Both wins IMO.

I need a new saddle for the mountain bike, no idea where to start so thought I'd try a Spoon.

If people reckon the Ti rails don't make it no more comfortable (my old flite ti isn't all that flexy), then I'll save the cash in case I don't fit the saddle anyway!

Scoop looks like it'll be easier to keep the underside clean, but I'm going to be cheap!

Thanks all...

I have spoons on all my bikes now, perfect shape for me 🙂 Using the Titanium railed version on my Soul, and it's definitely more comfortable than the steel one.

Charge and Fabric are the same people I believe. Same owners/managers running both companies.

I've got both, can't tell the difference to be honest. Nothing in it in weight either if I remember rightly.

Yes, Fabric is the accessories arm of Charge. Turns out bike companies wanted to put a Spoon on their bikes out of the box but didn't want to advertise another bike company at the same time!

The Knife did have thinner padding than the Spoon and was marginally less uncomfortable.

Agree with that - awful bloody things.

So you got one to sell cheap then?

I have two Charge Knifes that I need to sell, one of which has never been used....email me if you're interested.

Can I ask those who didn't get on with the Spoon, what you use? My ti railed one is about to be binned, fancy something different. Specialized or a Gobi, I was deliberating. Thnx

Ti version here. Have two. They are more comfy. Weight difference is tiny.

I need to get round to recovering my Ti Spoon.

The seat that's came on my Arkose looks and feels very Spoon-like.

I changed from normal to Ti and can't really feel much difference. Disappointingly the leather finish on the Ti seems to wear quicker that the plastic on the normal.

Had spoons on all my bikes, and couldn't understand why I was destroying my riding shorts within 3 months???
Changed over to pdw dios thronous, haven't had to buy new shorts since (about a year now).

May just be coincidence.

Some of the flites had the rails terminate in elastomer - they were comfy saddles and a lot comfier than the to spoon I had. Plus the padding was better.

It's the same Velo 1205 saddle that the Spoon is based on, a standard Velo shape where you can choose the cover material and padding etc. Been speccing them since the first year of Genesis bikes, it's just one of those saddle shapes that suits a lot of people.
re the Ti rails, they are a bit more flexible but I've broken too many ti saddle rails now and rarely bother with them unless it's for a road bike. Having gone back to crmo rails I'd say it's a very subtle difference.
