Dream bike destination, looks amazing.
Cant understand why there are only thirty odd entrants?

I'm sure there will be lots more entrees next year after people have watched this. Those first stages looked easy peasy (says the man sat on a comfy sofa)

Great programme. Local traffic seems to be an even bigger obstacle than the altitude or cold.

I think the $3750 entry fee plus flights & insurance rules out the casual punter

Hi Spooky + Bob
Didnt Mr Torq do rather well in this a few years ago?
Suffered altitude problems at 10,000ft so cant imagine what 15,000 must be like.
Carrying too much upper body mass to be competetive at this event though.

That program needed more hyperbole.

Some continuity weirdness as well - in some shots (apparently on the same stages / days) he's wearing a Camelbak, on others he's wearing a bum bag with a couple of bottles.

I'm only about 20 mins in on Tivo, but he seems to have the right attitude, if not the experience. Fair play on him. Pretty sure I'd be in bits doing some of the other stuff he's done - and he's gone out and done them. Few people have.

But yeah, Richpips, needs more hyperbole. 😀

Yak Attack has never been won by an overseas rider and probably never will be. I don't like even Nino Shurter could beat little Ajay! It isn't just the altitude, its avoiding getting sick, which is very hard.

Not seen it yet, so don't spoil it for me 🙂

a jay's rides are on Strava

http://www.strava.com/athletes/122442#interval?interval=201410&interval_type=week&chart_type=miles&year_offset=0

not a "great" deal of climbing however i guess the altitude is the killer
