Been at it for 20 mins now gone through quite a lot of fluid , new hose(rear) should it take this long any tips on quickening the bleeding process still got to do the front!
Fairly sure the last time I changed a hose it took a bit of fluid, but it didn't take 20 mins. Could it be there's so much air in the system because of the new hose, the master cylinder can't pump the fluid through?
Try it with the caliper higher than the M/C.
The calliper and lever were fluidness!
I've always found it best to fill the system from the caliper using a syringe like you would for a Shimano brake, then do the bleed down way to remove any small bubbles. Been doing it this way since my Mini brakes back in 2002ish and it's never failed 😀
It can take a while.
Is the bleed hose tight on the nipple? I find that a loose bleed hose can draw air into the hose as the fluid leaves the nipple giving the impression that there's still air in the system.
Is the brake fitted to the bike? Sometimes easier to bleed as an assembly off the bike with pistons held back with something between them avoids pad / disc contamination.
Then get the caliper higher than the lever to help the air travel towards the nipple.
Sometimes do it with lever in vise on bench and caliper in a hook about a foot higher
Pump the lever quickly a few times without opening the nipple to build up pressure then hold the lever in and open the nipple. Should take about 4 reservoir fulls to fill the system and a couple of minutes. with an empty system the pull lever, open nipple close nipple release lever does not work so well as the hose full of air acts like a spring and pushes bubbles back up the system
Well after an evening bleeding the bloody thing with no luck, today on inspection found a hairline crack in the master cylinder grrrr.
Hopefully Hope will replace luckily I have a set on my single speed so I can get the bike on the road!
Bleed from the calliper up to the lever. Take the reservoir cap off, level the lever, syringe fluid up to the lever. Flick the lever to release bubbles.
