So, I've notice over the last year or so that I am not as obsessed with mountain biking as I use to be. In fact, a few times I have considered giving it up. It is only when I go riding (mainly DHing these days) that I remember that this is fun, and I have a blast.
I have also noticed that I am now a better rider than I was when I spent most of my waking time thinking about going mountain biking. One of my biggest problems has always been mental (fear, in other words), but now I just get out and have fun, allowing me to properly translate my skills onto the trail. This improvement is actually quantifiable in that I am now riding fast down sections that I would have thought twice about before.
The moral? Just get out and ride
I always ride better when I switch off and don't worry about what I'm hitting.... fairly bleed obvious one really 😛
Yeah, it is, but I found it can often be hard to put into practice when I read about it all the time.
+1
Really enjoying my riding at the moment as only getting out (properly) about once a month which means mentally I want to make the most of each occasion
