They said it would cost £280 for the cartridge and a service for mine.
I've left it as it is.

Sorry you misunderstand me uplpink, I was referring to the rear shock, I have revs on the front which im happy with really. 🙂

Ask TF Tuned if they can give it the PUSH treatment? Worked superbly on my old '07 Float R shock.

Just got a coil shock done and it cost £150, possibly same price for air.

Very happy with result anyway, makes it grip much better over bumpy stuff.

So You want a new rear shock that has something like ProPedal and a lockout? Well just find the lenght of Your current shock and get another. Manitou was on offer at CRC not so long ago and their rear shocks are actually pretty good. SPV might be a pain to set up at first so consider different damping/platform options. You can get some second hand shocks as well. Rock Shox Monarch is a very good shock, I also had an Rock Shox MC shock on my Fuel Ex and could not complain, DT Swiss SSD would be a good choice, had that on a Scott before, fit and forget, easy to set up etc. Basically You can get a good second hand unit for around £100. You might need to change the mounting hardware but that is somewhere around £10-20.

I had a RS Sid on my old NRS and it did not even have rebound adjustment. Replaced it with a very nice X-fusion platform shock, very similar to RP3 and it made the NRS a much better riding bike.

Only issue with your STumpy might be the space for the shock going through the seat tube. My friend was looking for a new shock for her 07 Stumpy and the limited space meant she could only fit a RP23/Triad shock or other with a similarly slim air can.

Sadly,there's no such an upgrade for your float r.

The only mod which we can make is to PUSH tune it, which involves revalving the shock to make it more stable and plusher, but you'll still only have rebound adjustment.

Really, the only way to get what you want would be to upgraqde to an rp23, but they're pretty spendy at £379.

So yes looks like a replacement is in order, not being a numpty (well, am actually) but how do you work out your shock length? 🙂

This is a measurement from the middle of one eyelet to the middle of the other eyelet. Fairly common standard shocks are 165mm, 190mm etc. Then see how much space is there in the pierced seat tube where the shock goes through just to be sure the air can will fit.

you don't really need a lockout if you get your shock PUSHed, it cuts bobbing dramatically

Take a look at the specialised site, it has archive info on all their previous years bikes.
IIRC it's a 190mm i2i with a 40mm stroke

i have a brand new monarch 4.2 available. lock out, platform, all that jazz.

have a look in classifieds. good shocks.

Got the two-year-old Float R on my C'dale serviced by the lbs. Air can service/regas, seals, oil, bushes etc two days turnaround £80.

The difference between how it was (even from new) and how it is now is like night and day. Simply much, much better in every way.

interesting, cheers all, may well look at getting it pushed, tbh I quite enjoy the bobbing, it reminds me I have nice suspension working which is a pleasant feeling when you swap over from the cx bike 🙂
