Someone I know has a carrera subway bike and a seat tube mounted rear child seat. The front mech able runs along the top tube and down, with the child seat clamp on it interferes with the cable and won't change gear. There are no cable guides on the downtube or mounting point for the BB shell plastic cable guide. Is there a way of having the cable routed from the bottom to the front mech?
Thanks
There may be a ghetto run-full-outer-to-a-zip-tie stop option, but many Carrera subways are 1x... if he / she only uses a few gears on it, it might be worth just adjusting the limit screws to hold the front mech in one chainring only and removing the cable completely.
With something like this, you can just run a full cable outer down to the derailler.

Pierre - I suggested adjusting the limit scores to hold one chainring, he looked horrified lol. He would like to keep both chainring if he can.
Hols - that's the sort of thing I was hoping for, thanks. Running a full outer like on most rear mechs these days is an option. Will have to look for the cheapest one, he doesn't want to spend a fortune.
I have a couple of front mechs kicking about here, shame I can't just chuck one of those on, don't think I can run a full outer to them though? Unless most front mechs you can and I've not realised?
I have one of those mechs on my surly, it was the only way I could run a mech at all.
Mine (I think) is a deore, and £25 is ringing a bell.
Works perfectly, doesn’t get gunked up with crud because all the moving bits are at the side.
Mechs should always have been like this imo.
I have a front mech on my Salsa that takes full length outer right to the mech. I could zip-tie the cable wherever I want.
You could get a mech that pulls ( has cable ) from the bottom up, but you would still need to secure the cables tight.
