Hi all!
Ive just fitted a new Hope 40t rex, fitting it was a doodle. BUT...when i spin the chain backwards when running the hope ring the chain jumps down two cogs! It runs smooth when spinning forwards.
Ive noticed that the chain line looks like its pulling to one side pretty bad. I'm guessing this is the problem.
I'm running scram X0 crank with 36t wolf tooth narrow wide ring up front.
Does anybody know where i can get some spacers that will allow me to move the chainring over to the left? (looking down from riding position) Not sure if my LBS would have some (leisure lakes)
I keep searching, but all that comes up is headset spacers!

Race face and e13 both do shims for running a single ring on a double crank.
The other possible option is to move or add a bb spacer
The Sram crank I'm running is 120 BCD. As far as I know these shims only fit 104 BCD.
Also, these shims are just if the 4 chainring bolts are too long, they won't actually move the chainring over to the left. Correct me if Im wrong.
So...I've just got back from my LBS (leisure lakes) where i took my bike in. They say there is nothing wrong with the setup and the chain dropping a few cogs when in the hope ring is normal if you pedal backwards. Basically they fobbed me off!
I've managed to find some spacers, but I'm unsure as to which bolts I will need, as I will now need longer ones.
the bolt screws directly into the chainring and all I can find is ones like these

I has this problem too. Has disappeared with a bit if wear in time. I swapped the bb spacer on drive side to non drive side also.
I had the the same issue after converting to 1 x 10 recently. Got some longer chainring bolts from CRC - RaceFace Poly Bashguard Fastening Kit, and alloy spacers from Tweeks - Wheels Manufacturing. Ended up moving the chainring inboard by 4mm using 2 x 2mm spacers at each bolt. Ideally it needs some even longer chainring bolts but the chain line in now centred on the cassette and the mech seems quieter in the lowest gear. A worthwhile exersise I reckon.
