might be a stupid question,
i currently have 11-36 with a 34t front ring after trip round Afan found it a bit much on the climb, would a 32t make actually make a noticeable difference for the climbs
thanks
tom
Yes.
try 34 oval, in my opinion it makes a big difference on the climbs
a little but not massive IMHO the lowest gear is not much lower
5.88% easier, so definitely noticeable.
30 would give you equivalent of 1 more gear. 32 is only halfway there.
would a 30t be a better idea
No go 32. You spin out very quickly with a 30. Or stay 34 and get a 42 expander for when you really need it.
I use a 32t with a 40t expander and can ride most stuff even though my fitness is crap at the moment.

Depends what you want it on
My big bike has a 30 with a 40 tooth rear but it only really goes up big hills or back down them
Its not a gearing I would use for general use or on my only bike and it is not without compromises
IMHO an orange climbs better in the middle ring hence why I do it
