could anyone tell me if having a 10 speed rear would effect what front chainrings i need to get? is there a difference between 9 and 10 speed at the front crank?

i'll explain that alittle better
currently my bike has brand new 3 x 10 shimano SLX gear
i am looking to know if a 36t front chainring from a 9 speed will work with my 3x10 front slx crank converting it to a 24(10spd chainring)/36t(9speed chainring)/bashguard.....
crc dont have the correct 36t chainring in stock and wont have it in for about 10 days.... and have the chance to get a bashguard and 36t chainring now...
