is the number on a chain ring N10 the torque settings.
I have a FSA SLK carbon crank and would like to replace the chainrings.
I'm not sure on the torque settings and don't want to bugger it up.
usually with alloy cranks I just go by feel.
numbers on the rings are:
110mm BCD (this is the fitment)
34T (this is the number of teeth)
10N ???
Cheers
can I replace the rings with the crank still on the bike?
"N"10 is not a torque, it's in "Nm". By chance I swapped some FSA chainrings around, on a road triple, they alos say N10 on the outer.
I too go by feel ("firm", with greased threads), it's worked for 25 years.
110mm BCD is the Bolt Circle Diameter.
Dunno if you'll need to take the cranks off, if it's a triple, definitely.
A quick google fu suggests between 5-10Nm for alloy chainring bolts, and towards the higher end(10Nm) for steel bolts.
I'd set it for around 5Nm and have a test ride you can then increase the torque if your still getting movement.
does it not make a difference with the arms being carbon then?
I go long handled L key and tighten holding the short end. No way to over tighten then
